Garnet Valley Summary

By Stephen Larkin
MEDIA - The Penncrest Roaring Lions put up a valiant effort in their game against Garnet Valley, the 2007 Eastern PA Champs. We were off to a great start with Avery Coleman running back the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown. Garnet Valley struck right back and scored on a 9 yard run by Tim Keyser. The Lions put together a great drive capped by a five yard toss from Matty Atkinson to Matt Bundy and a 2 point conversion from Jerry "Hammer" Boyer for the go ahead score. Garnet Valley ended an active first quarter with a 49 yard pass from McHugh to Dunn to tie the game.

Things settled down in the second quarter with Garnet Valley taking the lead on a lone field goal as the only score in the second quarter.

The Lions had a great touchdown play called back on a penalty on their first drive of the second half. Unfortunately the Jaguars were able to score on a 1 yard run from Palaio.

The Jaguars started to pull away in the fourth quarter and had two scoring drives. Capping the scoring for the game, Matty Atkinson hooked up with Phil Barbieri for a 4 yard score with Miller adding the point after. The defensive effort was lead by Captain Nick Barbieri with 10 tackles and 5 assists.
